The mountain drums beat once more, and the halls of Starayafjell echo with fresh musters. Over the past weeks we’ve revealed archers and warriors all sculpted with unmistakable character by Paul Hicks. Today, the warhost grows again.
Not only have reinforcements arrived for both the hand-weapon and spear-armed warriors, but the Dwarves now march under the proud banner of their newly sculpted Command Group. With a leader to shout the ancient oaths and musicians to keep the guilds in step, the Dwarven force is beginning to take on the shape of a true warhost.
Command of Stone - The Dwarven Command Group
Every guild takes pride in its officers, the veterans who have fulfilled more contracts than most soldiers have lifted hammers. In the lore, these commanders are chosen not by bloodline but by merit: the warriors who have proven their honour time and again in the halls, on the roads, and at the edge of the shieldwall.
Our newly revealed Command Group embodies this tradition:
Dwarven Command - “Voices of the Guild Oath”
The group includes:
- A stoic Guild Captain, weapon rested, heavily armoured.
- A proud Standard Bearer, carrying a banner with the guild’s oath woven into cloth.
- A Warhorn Musician, capturing the deep boom that echoes forth before a charge.
Each sculpt carries Paul Hicks’ trademark detail: characterful faces and the subtle visual cues that show they’re leaders drawn from the ranks, not elevated above them. They are first into the fray and last to retreat because a broken oath is worse than death.
Reinforcements for the Shield Wall
Our Dwarven Warriors armed with hand weapons now march in greater number. These newly sculpted reinforcements round our group up to eight miniatures: different armour, shield designs, beards, scars, and stances, exactly what you’d expect from guild warriors gathered from multiple clans answering the same contract.
Dwarven Warriors - “The Deep-Stone Line”
Some warriors will stand ready in tight formation; others advance with hammers raised, teeth gritted beneath scraggly beards. Every sculpt helps reinforce the sense of a proud, disciplined force where no two Dwarves look the same.
Spearmen of the Lower Halls - More Reinforcements Arrive
Alongside the new hand weapons, additional Dwarven Spearmen have joined the muster. Once again taking the total number to eight unique miniatures, an ideal number for a group in Warhost.
Dwarven Spearmen - “The Iron-Clad Guard”
Their stances are firm and defensive, perfect for locking into a shieldwall or protecting the flanks of the guild caravan. The mix of heavier and lighter armour echoes their origins: some are seasoned veterans, others are newly sworn, but all share the same iron-clad resolve.
The Host Grows Closer to Completion
With the Command Group and fresh reinforcements now sculpted, our Dwarven range is gathering real momentum. The warhost is filling out, the banners are raised, and the guild captains are ready to march.
Soon, we’ll be unveiling even more additions, including heroes, specialists, and the scouts that will provide different choices to add to the core of the Starayafjell armies. As always, if all continues to go well, the plan remains to launch the full range via a Warhost website preorder later this year. Your support will be what brings these miniatures from sculpt to mould.
The mountain stands.
The guilds assemble.
And the Dwarves are almost ready to go to war.
