Welcome to Warhost.online – Our New Home

After a lot of thought (and a good dose of realism), we’ve decided to close the Hobday & Hicks website and move everything across to Warhost.online.

Why the change? Well, when we first started out, Hobday & Hicks seemed like a solid name. But as time went on, it became clear that it didn’t really say much about what we’re trying to do. Warhost, on the other hand, is the name of the fantasy game we created – a game specifically designed to utilise the beautiful 28mm fantasy miniatures that Paul has brought to life. It makes far more sense to build everything under that banner.

On top of that, Hobday & Hicks just wasn’t getting the traction we needed. SEO wasn’t helping us reach the right people, and we were essentially fighting uphill. I’ve actually owned the Warhost.online domain for a long time, and it feels like it’s finally time to use it for what it was always meant for.

What’s New on the Site

We didn’t just move the old site across – we’ve taken the opportunity to launch with a batch of new STLs.
Some of these pieces you might recognise from our Barons' War physical terrain range sold through Footsore Miniatures & Games, but this is the first time they’re available as digital files. Alongside these, we’re offering a fantastic deal on the Village bundle, which is perfect for both medieval and fantasy gamers.

But that’s just the start. Coming next are the Elf Dawn Blades – our two-handed sword wielding maniacs – who will be going straight into retail.

These will be followed by plenty more new releases, including further expansions to the eagerly anticipated Dwarven range, which Paul has begun working on.

Building the World

As well as miniatures, I’m eager to expand the background and lore for the Warhost setting. Someone recently summed it up perfectly on Facebook:

“The setting has just enough interesting ideas to hang a lot of game ideas off of, but also leaves a lot of room for our own creativity.”

I couldn’t agree more. That balance of flavour and freedom is exactly what I want the Warhost world to offer.

If you haven’t already, I suggest catching up on what happened to the people of Byland after the orc invasion through the gate – you can find the story in our Facebook group here: Read the story.

What’s Next?

In short: more of the same – but much, much more of it.

Paul and I also have some super-secret plans for next year, where we’ll really start to expand on the game itself. Personally, I’m very keen to arrange some “Come and Play” Warhost days, to give more people the chance to experience the game firsthand. More details on that once I’ve nailed them down.

For now, thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Moving to Warhost.online feels like the right step for our community and our vision. We’re excited about the future – and we can’t wait to share more with you.
